What is scan delay and why does it need tuning?
Scan delay compensates for galvo mirror lag on fiber and MOPA systems. Untuned, it shows as rounded corners, uneven line starts, or characters that look smeared at one end. The generator burns a pattern that reveals the correct value for your machine.
How does the MOPA color predictor work?
It estimates the pulse frequency, speed, and power combinations that produce specific oxide colours on stainless steel. Colours depend heavily on the exact alloy and surface finish, so use it to narrow the search and confirm with a test grid.
What is a material test grid?
A generated matrix that burns the same shape at incrementally varied speed and power, so one burn shows you the whole usable settings range for that material. Laser Lab exports these directly as LightBurn files.
