Method — Written from production runs on the author’s own CO2, diode and MOPA fiber machines. Any numbers given are starting points for a test grid on your material, not machine-verified settings.

LightBurn 2.2 has a Web Tools menu that opens design websites inside LightBurn. LightBurn's Web Tools reference lists two built-in entries, Cuttle and My Laser Tools, and says you can add your own sites as User Tools. Reticle Red is not a built-in entry and is not affiliated with LightBurn, but any site can be added this way, and it takes about a minute.

1. Open Manage User Tools

Open the Web Tools menu in LightBurn and choose Manage User Tools.

2. Add the site

Enter a name and a URL. You can also set a category, which LightBurn uses to group tools into submenus. Useful entries:

  • Reticle Red Fabricator: https://reticle-red.com/fabricator
  • Free LightBurn test grid: https://reticle-red.com/free-lightburn-test-grid
  • Image Lab (photo prep and vectorize): https://reticle-red.com/image-lab
  • Map Maker: https://reticle-red.com/map-maker

A category such as "Reticle Red" keeps them together in one submenu.

3. Repeat on each computer

LightBurn's reference page says User Tools are only installed for your computer. Add the entries again on any other machine you run LightBurn on.

4. Get a design into your LightBurn workspace

Make the design in Reticle Red and download the SVG, or the .lbrn2 where the tool offers one. Then use File, Import in LightBurn. SVG exports import with their dimensions intact, and the Reticle Red to LightBurn workflow covers assigning the engrave-fill and cut-line layers.

5. If a page behaves differently in the LightBurn window

Sign-in prompts and file downloads can behave differently inside an embedded window than in a normal browser. If something does not load or a download does not appear, open the same address in your regular browser, download the file there and import it with File, Import.

Try it without an account

The free LightBurn material test grid works without an account and writes a native .lbrn2, so it is a good first entry to add. For the settings behind the grid, see how to run a material test grid and read the result.

Frequently asked questions: Workflow

Is Reticle Red a built-in LightBurn web tool?

No. LightBurn's reference page lists two built-in web tools, Cuttle and My Laser Tools. Reticle Red is not one of them and is not affiliated with or endorsed by LightBurn. You can still add it yourself as a User Tool, as described above.

Do User Tools sync between my computers?

No. LightBurn's reference page says User Tools are only installed for your computer, so add the entry again on each machine you use.

Do I need a Reticle Red account to use it from LightBurn?

Not for the free tools. The LightBurn test grid and the calculators work without an account. The AI design tools need a verified account, which adds 12 welcome credits with no card.
