Free Laser Calculators — Kerf, Scaling & Power
Free laser calculators: kerf compensation, universal scaling, power and speed conversion, and the engraving physics behind them. No account, runs in your browser.
Capabilities & Feature Set
- Kerf compensation for press-fit joints, so a slot cuts to the size you designed.
- Universal scaler that keeps depth and settings coherent when a design is resized.
- Power, speed and engraving-physics conversions, with no account and no credit cost.
What Operators Say
“I love this software!”
“This is the easiest I have seen.”
“Reticle Red is becoming one of my favorite software to use. It has a lot of tools that many others do not, and approaches things differently to create more consistent results. A++”
“Reticle Red definitely takes the guess work out of your design work with tutorials to walk through the process. I highly recommend it.”

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need an account to use the calculators?
No. There is no account, no email and no credit card. Every calculator runs in your browser, and nothing you type is uploaded.
What is kerf compensation and why does it matter?
Your laser removes a strip of material the width of its own beam, so a slot cut to its drawn size ends up loose. Kerf compensation offsets the geometry by half that width on each side, which is the difference between a press-fit joint that holds and one that rattles.
Do the calculators know my machine?
Only if you are signed in as a Pro member with saved Machine Bay profiles, which pre-fill the fields. Signed out, everything still works — you enter the numbers yourself.
Where do I get the settings to put into them?
Burn a test card. The free LightBurn test grid and EZCAD test card generators sweep speed against power on your real material, and the cell that looks right gives you the numbers.
