Free Photo Dithering for Laser Engraving

Dither photos for laser engraving free in your browser: wood, slate, tile and painted stone presets, a labelled test sheet, PNG at true DPI and .lbrn2.

What does the free photo dithering tool do?

  • Drop a photo and download a dithered PNG stamped at its true DPI, or a LightBurn .lbrn2 project, free with no account.
  • Free photo-gift presets for wood, slate, ceramic tile and painted stone set the tone, the dither algorithm and the DPI.
  • A dither test sheet puts your own photo in four to six algorithms on one labelled card, so one burn shows which dither wins.
  • Everything runs in your browser; optional AI steps in Image Lab (upscale, remove background, vectorize) show their credit cost first.

Questions about free photo dithering for laser engraving

Is the photo dithering tool free?

Yes. Dithering, the material presets, the test sheet and every PNG or .lbrn2 download are free, with no account, email or card. Only the optional AI steps in Image Lab use credits, and each shows its price before it runs.

Is my photo uploaded?

No. The dithering runs in your browser and the file goes straight to your downloads. Nothing leaves your device unless you choose an AI step in Image Lab.

Which settings should I use for slate?

Use the Slate preset. A laser marks slate lighter than the stone, so the preset inverts the photo, raises the contrast and works at 300 DPI. Burn the test sheet on a spare piece first.

How do I engrave a photo on ceramic tile?

White tile does not mark on its own. Spray it with black paint, burn the dithered photo with the Tile preset, then wash off the unburned paint. The preset keeps the full tonal range at 300 DPI.

What is the dither test sheet?

One card with your photo in four to six dithering algorithms, each labelled with a burnable code such as A1 and the algorithm name, plus a small reticle-red.com line. Burn it once, pick the cell that looks best, and load its settings for the full photo.
