Do I need an account to use the price calculator?
No. The calculator runs in your browser with no account, email or card, and nothing you type is uploaded. An account is only needed if you choose Send as a proposal.
What is the difference between markup and margin?
Markup is added on top of your cost; margin is the profit as a share of the price. A 100% markup on a 10.00 cost gives a 20.00 price and a 50% margin. The calculator shows both so you can quote from either.
What should my machine rate per hour include?
Whatever an hour of machine time has to pay for: tube or source wear, power, air assist, lenses, maintenance and the machine payment. The calculator does not add these for you, so build them into the rate you enter.
What does Send as a proposal do?
It opens a new proposal in Shop Manager with one line each for material, machine time and labour, at the quantity and markup you entered. You then pick the client, tax rate and validity before sending. Shop Manager is included with Operator membership.
