Design files for your OMTech laser in LightBurn
OMTech says its CO2 and fiber engravers use LightBurn. Reticle Red writes LightBurn files directly: a free power and speed test grid as a native .lbrn2, finger-joint boxes, true-scale outlines and prepared photos, or AI artwork fitted to the part you are engraving, all at the size you set.

The test grid writes a .lbrn2 with every cell on its own layer and its speed and power already set. Box Maker downloads boxes as .lbrn2, SVG or DXF, and the calculators work out kerf, DPI and job cost. The CO2 and fiber settings tables open any row as a prefilled test grid. All free, with no account.

Paint the art zone on a photo or outline of the part and fire: the art is generated inside that zone with holes and borders left clear. On the Download card, pick LightBurn for a .lbrn2 at the part size you type. The Run Plan shows the engine and the live price before anything runs, and failed AI jobs refund automatically.
Open a Reticle Red file in LightBurn
-
1. Open a .lbrn2 project
In LightBurn, File > Open (Ctrl or Cmd + O) opens .lbrn and .lbrn2 projects, so the test grid and Fabricator downloads arrive with their layers.
-
2. Import SVG, DXF or PNG
File > Import (Ctrl or Cmd + I) adds an SVG, DXF, PNG or JPG to the open project. Opening one with File > Open instead starts a new project.
-
3. Set your own values
Check the size, assign your tested speed and power to each layer and run a test on matching scrap before the real part.
Questions OMTech owners ask
Does OMTech use LightBurn?
OMTech states that its products use LightBurn, and that it offers LightBurn for its CO2 and fiber laser engravers. Check which controller and LightBurn edition your machine needs on OMTech’s or LightBurn’s own pages.
Which Reticle Red files open in LightBurn?
The .lbrn2 projects open with File > Open; SVG, DXF and PNG files are added with File > Import.
Where do the test grid values come from?
From you: the grid sweeps the range you set. A row in the CO2 or fiber settings tables opens the grid bracketed around that row’s recorded values, as a starting point to test, not a preset.
Production checks before you export
Use the workflow on a representative sample before committing customer material. Confirm the finished dimensions, smallest line weight, layer assignments, focus, and machine parameters in the software that will run the job. A short test on matching scrap catches scale, contrast, kerf, and material-finish differences while they are still inexpensive to correct.

“This is the easiest I have seen.”
“Reticle Red is becoming one of my favorite software to use. It has a lot of tools that many others do not, and approaches things differently to create more consistent results. A++”
“Reticle Red definitely takes the guess work out of your design work with tutorials to walk through the process. I highly recommend it.”
