Map Maker
Generate laser-ready vector city maps from real OpenStreetMap data.
Map Maker builds clean, layered vector maps of any location by querying OpenStreetMap directly through the Overpass API — real road, water, building, park, and rail paths, not AI approximations. The result is a multi-layer SVG with each feature on its own stroke color so LightBurn auto-assigns palette layers. Perfect for city map engravings on wood or acrylic.
Operating Steps
Step 1: Search Location
Type a city or address in the search bar. The map pans to your location.
Step 2: Frame the Area
Zoom and pan to frame exactly the area you want. The center dashed box is your capture zone.
Step 3: Extract GIS Vectors — 2 CR
Click 'Extract GIS Vectors' to pull live OSM data for the framed area. Credits are only deducted after the data successfully returns — if the query fails, you aren't charged.
Step 4: Customize Layers
Toggle Major Roads, Arterials, Streets, Service Paths, Water, Parks, Buildings, and Rail independently. Set each layer's stroke width, color, fill, and whether it engraves or cuts.
Step 5: Export SVG
Download the consolidated SVG. Each layer carries a distinct stroke color so LightBurn detects them automatically — assign cut/engrave settings per layer and run.
Re-framing and re-extracting a new area costs credits again, so frame carefully before you extract. Switch the base map to the high-contrast CartoDB Dark Matter theme to preview how the engraving will read before you commit.
