Hole Rings: Engrave a Ring Around Every Screw Hole
Watch the 1:40 The Fabricator tutorial: Hole Rings: Engrave a Ring Around Every Screw Hole with a step-by-step PDF guide and the tool one click away.
In this tutorial
- Part Size first: the rings come out at real size (here a knife scale at 96 mm)
- Hole rings sits next to the red outline switch on the Export step; it only shows when your part has holes and is off by default
- Gap: 0.5, 1, 1.5 or 2 mm out from the hole edge; both choices are remembered
- LightBurn, xTool and EZCAD files carry the rings on their own HOLE RINGS layer, separate from the art and the outline
- Measured on the live site: at a 1 mm gap each ring sits 1.0 mm outside its hole, centred on it
- Keep the layer (score or a light engrave) for a bezel, or use it to line up and delete it before you burn
